So yeah, cleaned up the sketch, and somehow it ended up looking like an event CG of a game. Some people were wondering if this was set during the American Revolution, but nope, it’s the good old War of 1812. The uniforms are dubious at best in accuracy because the reference material has long been lost, but iirc Matthew’s was specifically designed for Lower Canada. No, many were not thrilled to wear the red coat.

I was trying to go for a Beatrix Potter-ish watercolor look with this one, but that didn’t quite pan out. If anything, this looks like a page from a vintage men’s clothing catalog.

…and yes, that is indeed a unicorn topiary back there.
